John Gleichauf, M.D.
Dr. John Gleichauf graduated from the University of Rochester with a background in engineering and entered the United States Marine Corps as a career officer. During his time in the military, Dr. Gleichauf became very interested in Dr. Albert Schweitzer and his missionary work in Africa and he then decided his talents would be better served as a medical doctor. He graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo in medicine and then completed an Ophthalmology Residency at the Prestigious Thomas Jefferson University of Philadelphia.
Dr. Gleichauf has an enormous background and experience in all aspects of ophthalmology and in the past worked as the consulting ophthalmologist for the State of New Mexico, for the Holloman Aero Research Facility Space Program, along with numerous other appointments in his specialty. He has performed thousands of lens implant surgeries.
Dr. Gleichauf has received international awards and has worked as an instructor, lecturer, and practitioner in Nepal, India, and Portugal where he donated not only his time and effort, but money as well.
Those who remember Dr. Gleichauf, remember him as a very compassionate and dedicated physician. He has enjoyed very large medical practices in New Mexico, and in Aiken, South Carolina, where he founded Aiken Ophthalmology.
Dr. Gleichauf’s biography appears in numerous publications including the Marquis Who’s Who in America for his many contributions in the field of Ophthalmology.
